The 8th IMEKOFOODS Conference – “Food Safety and Traceability for a Sustainable Future” took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 22–24 September
2025, hosted by the Jožef Stefan Institute. Bringing together over 120 participants from 18 countries, the event featured more than 100 scientific
contributions, including keynotes, oral and poster presentations, alongside interactive workshops on AI in food science, project writing, and EU-wide
traceability initiatives. Highlights included advances in food authenticity, contaminant detection, nutritional quality, clustering and sustainable food
systems. The conference also celebrated excellence in research, with poster awards presented to Cathrine Terro and Isabel Bastardo-Fernández. Overall, the
event promoted collaboration among scientists, policymakers, and industry experts, focusing on cutting-edge topics in food science and metrology.
